FOUNDER'S STORY

With a background in primary education for children with special needs and psychology, I spent years working closely with families. I saw mothers carrying long work days, emotional responsibility, caregiving, and the quiet pressure to just keep going.

What felt most important, for both the mothers and their children, was their connection to themselves. The ability to return to yourself, in the middle of everything. To pause, breathe, and feel grounded again.

I truly believe this “returning to self” is essential for us as human beings. Through breath, movement, touch, and small moments of stillness, we build resilience little by little.

I started wondering how we could return to ourselves more often

How we could create small, simple daily rituals that remind the body it is safe. Safe to soften. Safe to rest. Safe to grow.

During my master’s in psychology, I became deeply fascinated by the nervous system and the connection between breath, scent, touch, and emotional wellbeing. I explored mindfulness-based stress reduction, conscious breathing, and research showing how certain scents can support the parasympathetic nervous system, the part of us responsible for rest, regulation, and restoration.

From this exploration, sKINsccentmind was born.

Handcrafted facial skincare created not only to nourish the skin, but to support the nervous system through personal scent selection and mindful ritual. A moment of connection to self. A gentle return to yourself through breath, scent, and touch.

Growing up in Japan during my teenage years, I learned about “Kintsugi ”, the philosophy of repairing broken pottery with gold. The meaning behind it has stayed with me ever since.

I see humans the same way. We are able to heal, mend, and become even more valuable through the process of finding ourselves again after difficult seasons in life.

sKINsccentmind was created to hold space for that return.

Yours truly, Juju.

My skin. My scent. My story.

I've always had what felt like complicated, sensitive skin. I battled impurities and eczema for years, using harsh soaps and products to fight the breakouts, hoping to finally have smooth skin—often only irritating it even more.

It took time and a lot of trial and error to stop fighting and start listening.

Over time, I learned to work with my skin and my body. I came to accept that impurities and eczema might appear when I'm feeling more stressed than usual or paying less attention to my nutrition.

Natural, oil-based skincare truly helped me, first and foremost by allowing me to build a healthy relationship with my skin through the daily practice of massaging my face and connecting with my breath while doing so. Skincare became less about wishing my skin looked different and more about taking care of myself in a gentle, nurturing way.

Back then, I could only have dreamed of how my skin looks now most of the time. And I wish I had realised a little sooner that it's not about fighting "problematic skin." It's so much more about working with your skin and yourself—and doing so consistently.

Nourish, as well as sKINscentmind's upcoming products, were all created first and foremost because I was looking for a solution to my own "problem." Knowing that they resonate with so many other women and can help you care for both your skin and your soul on a deeper level truly makes me happy.

OUR FORMULAS

Our formulas were created with the intention of working in harmony with both skin and mind. Each product is designed to strengthen the skin barrier, restore natural radiance, and create an active moment of recovery through the power of olfaction - like a gentle massage for the nervous system.

Developed in Berlin, Germany, in collaboration with certified chemist and skin tissue specialist Dr. Ahed Almalla and Clinical Aromatherapist Julia Falkenstein, the formulas combine scientific expertise with the therapeutic properties of natural oils.

The result is a collection of science-backed formulations that adapt not only to different skin types, but also to emotional needs and individual olfactory preferences.
